For the third year, Senator Janet Nguyen and more than one hundred volunteers gathered at the OC Food Bank in Garden Grove to be part of #KindCalifornia, a statewide initiative that seeks to encourage residents to perform random acts of kindness. To inspire others, volunteers performed one big act of kindness by packing food for residents experiencing food insecurity. By the end of the 2-hour event, over 45,600 pounds of food were packed that will serve more than 1,500 households.
“In Orange County, 1 of every 6 children in our community are at risk of going to bed hungry. Today’s event is a small but significant step forward in eradicating food insecurity,” said Senator Janet Nguyen. “Since we launched #KindCalifornia three years ago, the OC Food Bank has been a wonderful partner in helping us spread our message of kindness, while highlighting the need for food assistance.”
