Garden Grove, CA — Trial lawyer and State Senate Candidate Tom Umberg provided a landing spot job for an attorney accused multiple times of sexual harassment, according to the Wall Street Journal in a report titled “At Law Firms, Rainmakers Accused of Harassment Can Switch Jobs With Ease.”
According to the WSJ report, Umberg hired former Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher partner Jeffrey Reeves after Reeves departed that firm following an investigation into sexual harassment allegations. “Mr. Reeves, who had worked at Gibson Dunn for 26 years, quickly joined litigation boutique Umberg Zipser,” the report stated.
“Tom Umberg knowingly hired and sheltered an accused sexual abuser. This total lack of judgement makes it more clear than ever women should not feel safe working with or around Tom Umberg,” said Ashley Hayek, Executive Director of the California Women’s Leadership Association.
Rogers was referring to a sex scandal that derailed Umberg’s first campaign for the State Senate in 2005. He was caught lying about his military service, claiming to be at Guantanamo Bay interrogating prisoners when in fact he was in Washington, D.C. carrying on an affair.
